"Encaustic Everything Workshop" with Shelly Jean

Friday April 23rd & Saturday April 24th

10:00 am- 4:00 pm, Cost-$345  All materials supplied

Students will leave with multiple pieces of art utilizing a variety of techniques that we will be experimenting with. Encaustic painting is the process of painting with hot pigmented beeswax. This technique is ancient, but has become increasingly popular with modern artists of today.

Come delve into the versatility of this fascinating medium that invites you to experiment!

Participants will learn about encaustic history, safety, surfaces, and fusing. In this comprehensive 2-day workshop we will be exploring a variety of techniques such as incising, layering, pigment sticks, mark-making, mixed media collage, mono-printing, and incorporating photos.

All skill levels welcome!

Shelley Jean is an Arts Educator with over 30 years of experience. She currently teaches at the Maitland Art Museum, Art Studios of Cocoa Beach as well as her home Studio, Secret Place Studio. She is the President of the Florida Chapter of International Encaustic Artists and a Demo Artist for R&F Paints.

Island Art Association Classes

Painting Workshop with Lisa Boski

LOOSEN UP!  A TWO DAY PAINTING WORKSHOP WITH SOUBY BOSKI

Tuesday, April 6 & Wednesday, April 7

10:30am – 3:30pm  Cost: $ 250

To register & pay, contact Souby at: [email protected]

In this workshop participants will learn how to loosen up and apply their paint (oils or acrylic) in a gestural, painterly manner. We will explore techniques and observations that will allow you “loosen-up” in your paintings. Nearly all of these tips have a common denominator – simplification. The
more you simplify what you do, the more it frees your mind to concentrate on staying loose.

Participants will practice using bigger brushes, more paint and working faster. We will take color to new unexpected places in an attempt to depart from expected realism.  Bring several canvases and reference photos. A suggested materials list will be provided upon registration.
