Gestural Figure Drawing/Painting from Life with Sally Cummings

Saturday, June 4, 9 AM – 4 PM

This one day class focuses on capturing the essence of the live figure through observation of core forms and lines of movement.  Develop your observational skills to simplify what you see.  Create the most basic, important lines andshapes , then simply, slowly add layers with increasing levels of information.  Guidance provided throughout.  Please contact Sally at [email protected]

Jenny Szaltis Watercolor Classes

Classes will resume in September.

Classes are held onThursdays from 9:30 until noon at the Island Art Association’s Education Center. The cost is $35 per class.$35.00 per class. Monthly enrollment is discounted to $94.00 per month and the second class to discounted to $66.00 per month.

Enrollment indicated that the POLICY and PROCEDURES have been read and agreed to.
All of Jennie’s classes are designed to be slow, easy, and moving at the student’s pace and interest.

Drop In Studios

Monday Watercolor Open Studio

Tuesday and Thursday Open Studios

All mediums welcome. 1 PM until 5 PM.  No registration required; just show up and enjoy working beside other artists. $5 fee. For Tuesday Information, contact Diane Withrow at [email protected]  and for Thursday info, contact Chris McCall. Her email is

Free Children's Art Classes

Free Classes  for children are held one Saturday a month from 11 AM until 12:30.  Registration is required for each session.  Call 904-261-7020 or stop by the desk in the gallery to sign up. The next scheduled classes are May 28, June 25 and July 23.

Fernandina Beach Photography Group

Membership is free to the public! Come join our monthly meetings with a guest speaker, and a monthly “Photo Challenge” (show and tell) of a theme decided in the previous meeting.

The group usually meets at 7 pm on the 3rd Thursday of the month in the Art Education Center next to Island Art Association Gallery.

Art Critique

The IAA critique group meets on the last Saturday of each month at Story & Song Bookstore Bistro, 12:00 noon-2:00 pm. Artists may bring works in progress to receive the group’s support and views. Story & Song’s Bistro offers a breakfast and lunch menu.
