Festivals

May 3 - 5, 2024

The first Shrimp Festival was held in 1964 to celebrate the traditional

blessing of the shrimp fleet – once a major industry on beautiful, historic Amelia Island

Approximately 100,000 people attend annually during the weekend event to enjoy fine food, fine art, entertainment and special activities.

The Island Art Association sponsors the arts and crafts portion of the festival in conjunction with the Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival Committee.

Annually about 350 artists and craftsmen are juried by IAA into the show and compete for $9,000 in prize money.  For food and antique vendors please go to the Shrimp Festival website.

Artist applications for the 2024 Shrimpfest will be managed through Eventeny (http://www.eventeny.com/ ). Applications will open October 1, 2024.

The IAA, established in 1972, is a volunteer, non-profit organization whose mission to support the arts and artists in Nassau County. Our major projects include the Art Gallery where the work of 50 local artists are on exhibit and for sale and the Art Education Center where programs and classes are offered. Each May, the Island Art Association hosts the arts and crafts portion of the Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival.

The Gallery is located on Second Street in the charming historic district of Fernandina Beach. We feature a wide variety of art works and media for sale by local artists. The gallery is rearranged with new art continuously, including Nouveau Art, a bi-monthly themed and juried show.

The gallery is owned and operated exclusively by our artists. Stop by — you can meet a different artist every day!   Contact Us!
