Lis Krawiecki retired to Amelia Island from Atlanta, where she was a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. About 10 years before retiring, she took a pottery class at the Spruill Art Center, and hasn’t been able to get her hands out of clay since. Now that she is here on the Island full time, she is able to devote more time to her craft, and is exploring many different techniques. The ocean and sea life have inspired her creativity and interest. She has created barnacle wall installations, sea urchins, tide clocks, vessels sinks and many pieces with images of turtles and other sea life. She has also been commissioned to create one of a kind wall installations in several Amelia Island homes. Lis is an exhibiting artist at the Island Art Association in Amelia Island. She has been a participating artist in the Cummer Garden Tour for several years. This sparked her interest in creating garden totems, which continue to be her obsession. You can see much of her work on Facebook at FiredUpFernandina.
