Nouveau Art

What is Nouveau Art?

Nouveau Art  is a themed, juried show, occurring every two months, except for February, which is the Nassau County Student Show, and March, the IAA member show. It is displayed in the South Hall as a separate show from the exhibiting art in the IAA Gallery.

Any artist may submit 2 pieces per show. The fee for members to enter is $15 for one piece and $25 for 2.  For non IAA members, the cost is $25 per entry.

Prize money is awarded for Best of Show and first, second, and third places. A reception is held on the evening of the downtown Artwalk, which is monthly on the second Saturday evening.

September 19, 2021

Join artist Gordon Parker in the Art Education Center for a hands-on demonstration of the Art of Linocut. Matisse and Picasso started using linocut printing in the early 1900’s. A linocut is a type of relief print and bears a lot of similarities to woodblock printing.Essentially, the artist carves an image into a linoleum block and what’s left of the block is inked and the relief surface is printed. The result can be bold and striking or detailed and delicate depending on the carving.

This free class is limited to twelve participants. Reservations are  required! First come, first served. Contact Susan Colcord ([email protected]) to make a reservation for this sure-to-be fun Sundays On Second at the IAA.

Artrageous Artwalk

“In addition to beautiful beaches, Amelia Island is also known for upscale galleries and talented artists who call this Island home. Thus, Second Saturday Artrageous Artwalk was born.”

On the second Saturday of each month from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, participating galleries will remain open for your strolling pleasure.

Please drop by the Island Art Association on the second Saturday of each month to enjoy meeting the featured artist,  great art, good conversation, light appetizers, wine and sodas.

*(FYI, if you are a supporting member and would like your artwork to be featured in the gallery for a month,  a drawing is held each November to determine which artists will have that opportunity during the coming year.)
