Welcome to our Special Gallery Events page. Here you find updates about Nouveau Art, Artrageous Artwalks and other events hosted by the Island Art Association.
What is Nouveau Art?
Nouveau Art is a themed, juried show, occurring every two months, except for February, which is the Nassau County Student Show, and March, the IAA member show. It is displayed in the South Hall as a separate show from the exhibiting art in the IAA Gallery.
Any artist may submit 2 pieces per show. The fee for members to enter is $15 for one piece and $25 for 2. For non IAA members, the cost is $25 per entry.
Prize money is awarded for Best of Show and first, second, and third places. A reception is held on the evening of the downtown Artwalk, which is monthly on the second Saturday evening.

During this month’s Artist Encounter, Pipar West will be guiding participants through the process of Metal Repousse. Metal Repousse is a metalworking technique in which a malleable metal is shaped by using tools on both sides of the metal to create a design in low relief.
You will be working with aluminum to transfer a drawing to metal. Please bring a simple 4×6 inch line drawing of something you wish to transfer to the metal surface. Images will also be available at the Education Center.
This free class is limited to twelve participants. Reservations are required! To reserve your spot, e-mail Becky White at [email protected]
“In addition to beautiful beaches, Amelia Island is also known for upscale galleries and talented artists who call this Island home. Thus, Second Saturday Artrageous Artwalk was born.”
On the second Saturday of each month from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, participating galleries will remain open for your strolling pleasure.
Please drop by the Island Art Association on the second Saturday of each month to enjoy meeting the featured artist, great art, good conversation, light appetizers, wine and sodas.
*(FYI, if you are a supporting member and would like your artwork to be featured in the gallery for a month, a drawing is held each November to determine which artists will have that opportunity during the coming year.)
